Director, Community Engagement & Communications
Join Generation Next to help improve student achievement in the Twin Cities - a coalition of local organizations working to improve educational outcomes of low-income children in our community.
We are seeking an experienced, flexible, proactive individual to work with Generation Next, a collective approach to improving student achievement. The focus of this position is developing and implementing a communication and engagement plan in collaboration with key partners and stakeholders that is responsive to the greater Twin Cities community and consistent with the Partnership’s five key goals to close the achievement gap.
Description of Duties • Lead communications and engagement activities. • Provide staff support & thought partnership to the community engagement working group. • Manage and implement the annual community engagement plan. • Develop, manage and implement an annual strategic communications plan. • Serve as a member of the Executive Director’s Senior Leadership team. • Oversee publication of community report card. • Work closely with Minnesota Minority Education Partnership. • Ensure that multicultural communities are integrated in overall engagement strategy. • Manage Communications/Community Engagement Graduate Intern (s) • Guide the development of community engagement strategic plan Specifications • Master’s degree in communications, marketing, public engagement, policy, education, non-profit management, or a related field. • Minimum of five year’s professional experience in communications, marketing, public engagement, or a related field. • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain transparent and effective working relationships with diverse individuals and constituencies. • Ability to communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing that can be understood by a variety of audiences. • Knowledge of, and demonstrated experience in, using and integrating all aspects of traditional and new communications and engagement-driven tools and tactics, including developing and using impact metrics. • Demonstrated creative, analytical and problem solving skills and abilities including utilizing communications and engagement strategies to mobilize communities, as well as to inform drive systemic change. • Ability to develop systems for tracking relationships with key audiences and progress against the benchmarks outlined in the engagement and communication plans and data to inform program decisions and mid-course corrections. • Leadership experience in building partnerships and creating shared messaging with and within diverse corporate, philanthropic, K12 and higher education, non-profit, and urban communities. • Familiarity with the HTML and Adobe Creative Suite (including In Design, Acrobat, and Photoshop). • Strong project management skills to meet timelines and manage contractors and/or staff/interns on a diverse range of projects and initiatives.
